The last time we rode alongside Wild Horse, they were galloping through the grind with the soul-powered optimism of “Keep On Moving Up”, a jazzy funk-pop anthem that felt like a burst of sunshine through the smog of hustle culture. Now, nearly a year later, the East Sussex quartet is back with “Read My Mind (Vibes Song)” and while the groove still runs deep, there’s something richer at play. The youthful swagger has evolved into emotional precision. Formed by brothers Jack Baldwin (Vocals and Guitar) and Henry Baldwin (Bass Guitar) and their lifelong friend Ed Barnes (Drummer), Wild Horse has long carved out their own corner of the indie landscape. But with the addition of Jade Snowden, their dynamic has evolved into something fuller, more textured, and yes, more emotionally resonant. The party is still raging but this time, it's lit by the glow of connection, vulnerability, and a kind of clarity that only comes from being seen in the chaos. Wild Horse hasn’t just kept moving up, they’ve leveled up. Let’s dive in!

There’s something undeniably uplifting about this song that feels like it's speaking directly to the weariness of your day while simultaneously whisking you away from it. It pulses with radiant energy, all while lyrically grounding itself in a theme we can all relate to the soul-sapping routine of modern life and the quiet miracles of someone who knows exactly how to pull you out of it. At it's heart the song is about the push-pull of modern life, the grind that wears you down and the one person who lifts you up. But Wild Horse doesn't approach that theme with clichés. Instead, they let the lyrics speak plainly and powerfully, starting right from the opening line -

“Closing time has got me tired / But I don’t sleep / Feels like I’m floating in a haze / No time to breathe / I feel I need a change / But then I see your face / And I elevate...”

We’re dropped into a scene we all know too well. The mental fog, the fatigue that lingers despite rest, the nagging pressure that builds like static. It’s a song about burnout, but one that doesn’t wallow in the dark. Instead, it lifts. There’s catharsis in the clarity. Someone sees him. Someone gets it. And just like that, the song opens up.

The chorus is pure euphoria -

“You’re the only reason I / I get so high / You got me vibing, vibing...”

It’s romantic, yes, but also deeply personal. This isn’t just about being in love, it’s about feeling seen and rescued in moments where the world starts to blur. There’s an almost spiritual quality in how the track marries the emotional highs of connection with the musical highs of shakers, Rhodes stabs, and groove-forward rhythm sections. And those “ooh oohs” in the background? That’s pure indie-pop sunshine bottled and unleashed.

The second verse dives deeper -

“Pressure is building up so much / Just gotta get it down / There’s nothing else that matters / ’Cause you got me strong...”

Further layering the track’s message with quiet defiance and resilience. And then there’s the bridge, where the groove shifts, the production breaks open, and Baldwin lets go -

“F**k all my problems / I’ll just let go / I cannot shake this feeling / Not like I want to, no...”

It’s raw, tender, and honest and it gives “Read My Mind” the emotional edge that pushes it from feel-good anthem to genuine expression. The final stretch of the track plays like a victory lap, layers of vocals

cascading like confetti as Baldwin sings “You got me vibing / Vibing on you...” again and again, like a mantra. It’s intoxicating and joyful, but never saccharine. The

message: even in the chaos of modern life, in the haze of fatigue and pressure, there can be clarity. There can be light.

The lyrical vulnerability in the song is matched beat for beat by Gary Stevenson’s production, which leans into the band’s natural chemistry while giving each layer room to shine. Jack Baldwin’s vocals are especially magnetic here, his delivery gliding between casual intimacy and soaring highs, smooth and soulful yet bursting with conviction. There’s a jazz-tinged freedom in his phrasing, a willingness to bend around the beat and let the emotion dictate the cadence. In that sense, his performance feels lived-in, as if he’s not just singing about release, he’s finding it as the song progresses.

Wild Horse has always had that ineffable energy, the kind that turns live shows into communal parties, the kind that grabs your hand and drags you to the dancefloor. But here, they show something more: maturity, restraint, intentionality. Every melodic twist, every lyrical detail, every rhythm break feels designed to feel good, but not just on a surface level. “Read My Mind” is as much about healing as it is about vibing. So if you’ve been stuck in the haze, clocking in and zoning out, let it be your reset button; a reminder that even in the monotony, there’s magic in being understood. This is your permission to breathe, to dance, to feel. Wild Horse is riding high in 2025, and trust us, you’ll want to be along for the journey. Listen below!
