It's been a while here, for this section, but here we are with our interview number four, delighted to sit with and know a bit more about the multi-talented slodereo!
"The best piece of advice that I have gotten and I want to continue giving to others is, do it for yourself. Any hobby you pick, any course you study, do it for yourself. Find satisfaction in your work before going to others for their approval".

1) Hello, welcome to the OG Music Blog Interview! First of all, tell us and our reader friends about yourself!
Hi. I am slodereo. People can also call me "slo". I am an artist/producer from Bangalore.
2) What made you want to become a musician/artist? When did you start your musical journey?
Well, finding an outlet for suppressed emotions was the main reason why I became an artist. Then it slowly transitioned into making music in niche genres to introduce local audience to them. I started making music in 2020, just rapping on YouTube beats. Then, i slowly started learning music production and audio engineering in 2022 and it has been going on since then, learning new things and adapting them.
3) Which instruments do you play in general, which one you love most and why?
Unfortunately, I do not play an instrument. However, I will talk about my favorite virtual instrument, Serum. Shoutout to my music production teacher Premik Jolly (@premikjolly), he got me into sound synthesis and I have been making synth presets ever since. And now it's a goal to create and use atleast one synth for every song I make, along with other one-shots, premade presets, and drum samples that I use.
4) What is it you are passionate about music in general?
The process of evoking emotions through sound. I want to make music that you can feel, either through lyricism or production. Most of my favorite artists do this and I want to do it too.

5) Are there any musicians who inspire you?
I divide them into two categories depending on the style of music I make. For hyper pop stuffs, I get inspired by aldn, ericdoa, glaive, brakence and underscores. For dark eerie stuffs, I draw inspiration from Scarlxrd, BVDLVD, FXCKJAMIE, Denzel Curry, Kamaara, Kill Ebola and Slen.
6) Briefly explain your creative process for any project?
So, first I make an instrumental. I lay down some chords, then render them and try to see if I can manipulate them further. Then I add a lead, bass, and then drums. This is also when I start finding a flow and then write lyrics. And then I record them, edit the vocals, mix them, and then master the whole song.
7) What kind of music do you usually make or the mood/vibe do you aim to create in general?
I usually make really dark distorted eerie songs. I don't know, probably because those are the emotions I feel inside and it comes out through music. But recently I have been trying to make more positive, happier sounding music.
8) Have you ever collaborated? If yes, then say something about it like with whom or your experience in collaborating with others?
When i used to go by SLXDEREX, I had collaborated with few artists like LIL$ILCHAIN, Jay Tomioka, Agora III XIII and Keldxn. I liked collaborating with Chain and Keldxn a lot. They are always trying to push their limitations and always trying to do something new with their music. I get inspired a lot by them.
9) Which qualities do you think a great musician should possess?
Discipline. This is not a 100m sprint race. You will fail a lot. You will be closing down a lot of projects. All you have to do is clock in regularly and stay consistent. Another one is the obsession with craft. Every good artist is obsessed with improving and learning more about their craft. That's how you stay fresh and relevant to your audience.

10) Any weaknesses you think you have or if you have any awkward moments/memories as a musician/artist?
So, the most awkward moment for me was when I lost the ability to scream rap back in 2021. I used to use improper screaming techniques to scream and I just couldn't scream anymore. Had to take a long break due to it (and other reasons). Had to relearn screaming. I still struggle every now and then but it's way better than before. Plus I use what I learnt from it in my singing as well.
11) Any particular venue you'll be performing at or release that you might be having in the coming months? A few words on it, please.
So, my next few releases will have a change in sound. All I am going to say is that, watch out for the EP. the EP will have songs that you might not expect an Indian to make usually and might contain something for everyone.
12) One last question. What's the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you or you might give to others like our musician friends reading this? Thanks.
The best piece of advice that I have gotten and I want to continue giving to others is, do it for yourself. Any hobby you pick, any course you study, do it for yourself. Find satisfaction in your work before going to others for their approval.
We at OG Music congratulate slodereo and wish him all the best for all his future musical endeavours. Check out his music below ~
